We are happy to announce the profile piece called Sean Chuma: Dispatches, on Outside TV. His skill and experience are highlighted in this short video. He has over 7,000 BASE jumps under his belt. BASE jumping found Sean at a crucial time in his life when the question was to work a 9-5 job every day or go on to do something he could be passionate about. As a youngster Chuma worked many jobs, which caused stress, anxiety, and feelings of imprisonment. His happiness comes from the freedom to do what he loves as a career. Sean has grown to be quite prolific. See the Outside TV video here.

interview with Sean Chuma
I had the opportunity to speak with Skydivemag.com, about BASE Jumping and my thoughts on many topics within the sport. The magazine created an interesting interview with Sean Chuma. I do a fair amount of interviews. They end up reflecting the way I am feeling at the time of the interview. This article turned out really well in my eyes. The sport spans far and wide as the people come from all walks of life. It also embraces a wide range of emotions. This takes balance. Thanks and big respect to skydivemag.com and Lesley Gale, specifically, for interest in me and my life. Trying to explain my thoughts and my way of life is always fun. I hope you enjoy the read. Genuinely Interested Podcast Appearance
Listen in on the Genuinely Interested Podcast hosted by Roy Ben-Tzvi as he and Sean Chuma discuss BASE jumping and what life is like in the sport. The world is a crazy place, especially in the current Covid age, but better yet is what is going on behind the scenes and in the risky, yet artistic jobs that people like Sean do. What does it take to be a base jumper? What level of precision is needed? How does one survive in such a risky sport? All this and more in this podcast.
Podcast on BASE Jumping
Sean speaks about BASE Jumping with Richard Harris in the Real Risk Podcast which profiles people who work in risky careers. Sean answers many questions about BASE jumping and working within the sport. He also goes into the psychological aspect of BASE, what the culture is like and much more. Sean speaks about the subculture of base, decision making, physical requirements, the party scene, and much more. He also goes in depth about teaching students and taking people on tandem BASE jumps in this podcast on BASE jumping. And when you thought it was all about BASE, he goes into his quest for spiritual growth and thoughts about living on this planet and making it the best life by developing yourself and doing good for others over yourself. Listen now. With the high level of risk and the loss of many close friends, Base jumping really does force a person to think about life and what might come after. A jumper can use this to their advantage to become more conscious from the activity they love to take part in. It is for this reason that this sport can be so beautiful. It is a direct representation of the whole spectrum, from the highest highs to the lowest lows.

Sean chuma issues first 3 tandem base numbers
WE HAVE JUST RETURNED FROM A BEAUTIFUL TRIP TO ACAPULCO, MEXICO. OUR FRIEND AVERY BADENHOP ORGANIZED A BUILDING EVENT FROM LA PALAPA, WHICH HELPED THREE PEOPLE FINISH ALL FOUR OBJECTS AND BECOME THE FIRST ONES TO COMPLETE B.A.S.E.. THIS MEANS THAT THEY HAVE JUMPED ALL FOUR OBJECTS IN THE WORD BASE. BASE IS AN ACRONYM THAT STANDS FOR BUILDING, ANTENNA, SPAN, AND EARTH. IN NORMAL BASE JUMPING IT IS A TRUE HONOR TO GET YOUR BASE NUMBER. THERE ARE OVER 2000 PEOPLE THAT HAVE COMPLETED BASE. THERE IS AN ASSOCIATION WHERE YOU CAN APPLY FOR A BASE NUMBER BY GIVING THEM A BIT OF INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR FOUR QUALIFYING OBJECTS. WHILE THERE ARE OVER 2,000 PEOPLE THAT HAVE A PERSONAL BASE NUMBER, THERE ARE ONLY 3 PEOPLE AT THIS TIME THAT HAVE THEIR TANDEM BASE NUMBER. EACH OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN PART OF HISTORY IN BASE. THEY HAVE EACH DONE TANDEM BASE JUMPS FROM EACH OF THE FOUR OBJECTS. THIS IS A VERY EXCITING TIME AND SOMETHING THAT I HAVE BEEN EXCITED FOR SINCE I STARTED DOING TANDEM BASE IN 2009. I ALWAYS WONDERED WHO IT WOULD BE. TANDEM BASE #1 IS ALEXANDRA BADENHOP ALONG WITH HER BOYFRIEND BRIAN CRAIL #2. TANDEM BASE #3 IS MY GIRLFRIEND BRENTON BLACK FROM TWIN FALLS, ID. AS THE ORIGINAL TANDEM BASE MASTER I HAVE DECIDED THAT I WILL BE KEEPING THE DATABASE FOR ALL OF THE FUTURE ISSUING OF TANDEM BASE NUMBERS. I WILL KEEP IT SIMILAR TO THE TRADITIONAL BASE NUMBER SYSTEM IN HONOR OF OUR SPORTS HISTORY. I AM VERY EXCITED TO OFFER THESE SPECIAL WORLD ADVENTURES TO THOSE WHO WANT TO MARK THEIR PLACE IN HISTORY AND JUMP ALL FOUR OBJECTS IN THE WORD BASE.
Sean Chuma’s Nitro Circus Live Performance
So much happens in my day to day life that I often forget about the big things briefly until they rocket back into my consciousness. My season was super busy with travel to many countries for Base Jumping. I suspect this year will be even better. I taught so many students and took so many people on Tandem Base jumps. I love to see the eyes of people change after my classes or after a person goes on a Tandem BASE jump with me. Its always an incredible feeling to share the sport that I love with others. My whole aim is to help the sport grow in a positive direction with participants that actually care about the big picture of our sport. It is not all about each individual jumper, it is about our group/ family as a whole. When I performed a Tandem Jump in Durban, South Africa at Nitro Circus Live, you could absolutely, unmistakably feel the heartwarming vibe that the jump created. There were people crying and laughing and cheering. It was in honor of the late and great Eric Roner. What an experience it was to be part of and what an amazing team of people to work with.
First person to reach 5,000 BASE jumps!!!
Chuma reaches 5,000 BASE jumps giving him the most jumps in the world. Does it every get boring? “Not a chance, I love Base jumping even more. An experienced jumper has been through the rough times as well as the amazingly good times. The rough times teach us to be humble and to always be on guard. Things can happen at any moment, this is why it takes the mentality and skill of a ninja to do this sport.” –Sean Chuma–
